The National Enhanced Oil Recovery Initiative (NEORI) recognizes Governor Steve Bullock for his leadership and support for deployment of carbon capture, use, and storage (CCUS) in Montana. Governor Bullock recently released Montana’s Energy Future blueprint, which identifies CCUS as a priority and calls for more support and incentives for its deployment, including tax credits and loan guarantees. Forward-looking state energy blueprints such as Montana’s help make the case for a comprehensive approach to advancing low and zero emission energy technologies that includes CCUS.
The industry, labor, environmental, and state participants in the NEORI coalition support state and federal policies to lower economic barriers to capturing carbon dioxide from power plants and industrial facilities for use in enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR). They will continue to work on a bipartisan basis with Governor Bullock, his colleagues in the Western Governors’ Association, and state officials nationally to advance state and federal policies that will increase American oil production, create jobs and economic growth, deploy innovative carbon capture technologies, and safely store CO2 underground.
